About elvirus

My name is Connor and I’ve been hopping around the cybersecurity world for around 6 years. Endpoint security, SIEM administration, red teaming, cloud pentesting, appsec - all over the place.

I even spent about 2.5 years of my life looking at how password guessers actually work.

One main frustration I’ve always had with the industry is how hard it is for people to understand. It’s huge, overwhelming, constantly changing, and a lot of people in it just expect everyone else to keep up.

A lot of security advice assumes people will slow down, pay attention, and make the “right” decision every time. That’s not how people actually behave, especially when they’re busy, distracted, or just trying to get through their day.

Most security failures aren’t about missing patches or complex exploits. They come from normal, predictable human behavior interacting with systems that weren’t designed with that behavior in mind.

That’s what I try to write about here.

I try to break down security incidents, patterns, and everyday practices in a way that’s clear, practical, and grounded in how things actually work - not how we wish they worked.
